Bernardo Ainza is an experienced transactional attorney and represents high growth technology companies and venture capital firms in many areas, including corporate formations, angel and venture capital financings, commercial agreements, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities law, and corporate governance matters.
Bernardo began his legal career as a transactional attorney in Foley & Lardner’s Los Angeles office where his practice involved a broad range of corporate matters, including private equity mergers and acquisitions, angel and venture capital financings, and renewable energy project transactions. After leaving Foley, Bernardo worked as a corporate attorney in the Technology Companies Group of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP in Orrick’s Silicon Valley office where he represented high growth technology companies in formations, angel and venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. During his tenure at Orrick, Bernardo represented several Y Combinator companies in various corporate matters, including formations and venture capital financings. Bernardo was recruited away from Orrick by Twentieth Century Fox (“Fox”) to assist Fox in growing its corporate venture capital and strategic transactions business. While at Fox, Bernardo worked with Fox Filmed Entertainment’s Strategy and Business Development Team and represented Fox in domestic and international corporate venture capital investments in established and emerging media companies.
Prior to receiving his JD from the University of Chicago Law School, Bernardo worked for several years in banking and held roles in wealth management and private banking, institutional sales and trading, and mortgage wholesaling. Bernardo holds an MBA from the University of Southern California, holds a real estate broker’s license with the California Department of Real Estate, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst Level III candidate.
In his spare time, Bernardo enjoys playing soccer for Beach Cities United in the South Bay Peninsula Soccer League. He also enjoys running triathlons, beach volleyball, and surfing and tries to stay a positive supporter of the Cleveland Browns.
